BEST SCREENPLAY COMPETITION

The Manhattan Short Film Festival also holds a Screenplay Competition. The competition is for screenplays for short films only. Screenplays must be 20 pages or under in length. Deadline for entries is November 1st 2009.

We are thrilled to be teaming up with Writers Boot Camp, one of our partners and sponsors of this competition. One of the things our partnership with the WBC will do is help international writers as well as writers from the US. Much of the WBC’s program is offered online in addition to their live classes in NY and LA.

This will benefit all writers regardless of where they reside and encourage more international writers to submit their works. Our goal is for the screenplay competition to go global just as our short film competition has, in order to see as many different view points in screenplay entries as we now see in film submissions.

Our mission is two-fold, to encourage people to write screenplays and to connect Filmmakers with Screenwriters. All screenplays submitted by the November 1st deadline will have their synopsis and screenplay breakdown listed online under Contact a Screenwriter link above. Here, filmmakers searching for a screenplay will be able to connect with individual screenwriters who have entered the competition.
